Governor Sarah Palin stumps in Canton

Sunday, November 2, 2008

Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin addressed about three thousand supporters in Canton Sunday. Her swing through Ohio included four stops yesterday and she has another planned one this morning in Lakewood.

Following a performance by county singer Gretchen Wilson, Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin talked about special needs children, gun rights, taxes and job creation to a receptive audience of more than 3,000 packed into the Canton Memorial Field House.
She attacked Barack Obama's plan to raise taxes on people making more than $250,000 to fund healthcare, college aid and other programs.
"Instead of taking more of your heard-earned money and spreading it around according to some politician's priorities, we're gonna spread opportunities so that you and Joe the Plumber can create new wealth" Palin said.
She also responded to accusations that the McCain-Palin campaign has gone negative in recent weeks.
"Ohio, there is nothing mean-spirited or no kind of negative campaigning when you call someone out on their plans, their record, and their associations. So we're going to do that."
Palin reassured her audience that the McCain-Palin ticket will not be soft on terrorism and is dedicated to winning the war in Iraq.
"See, the rousing speeches of our opponents, they can fill a stadium but they cannot keep our country safe. And for a season, a man can inspire with his words. But for a lifetime, John McCain has inspired us with his heroic deeds" she said.
Palin has been crisscrossing the state, making four stops yesterday and scheduled to begin her Monday in Lakewood.

Listener Comments:

What is wrong with people to want MORE GOVERNMENT and think that Gov't is the answer. What people today are rooting for is for the Gov't to make all the decisions for the people, handle all our affairs, personal and otherwise.......

Do you people not understand Socialism? Hitler? China? Russia? They all have their gov't taking everything away from them to give them what they want them to have. If you have a job do you want your husband or some stranger, demanding your income so that he can decide what it is you need.

My gosh people. WE ARE THE GOV"T yet many today are brainwashed into thinking that the Gov't is a separate entity to take care of our needs. WE TAKE care of our OWN NEEDS. The Gov't handles only the affairs of public issues, not our PRIVATE AFFAIRS and that includes healthcare, education, abortion and more!

We dont' need a Dictator, we need a Gov't for "We the People"

Read the consitution!

Why do people want a president / vice on the "people's level"? Have you meet some "people"? I have achieved a master's degree, compared to friends with doctorates, an underachiever. I want my president to be elite, more eloquent, more highly educated, more "elite" than I. I do not wish to have a president / vice who will "have a beer with me" or "is hot". What the hell is wrong with people?!

Lizzy, when you can ask God himself to tell you if he made girls and girls and boys and boys to fit together and he explicitly tells you, "no," then I'll believe your saying what his intentions were.

What has "Obama" really done to tick you off? Do you pay taxes? Nope. Are you in the military? Nope. You like to hunt. Great. I don't recall "Obama" planning to recall guns and reinstate English Game Laws from antiquity, only trying to minimize the extreme negative effects guns have on our society.

Dizzy Miss Lizzy, I only hope this election goes to Obama so that Oklahoma's educational system receives funding adequate to teach proper quotation mark usage. Sorry to sound so negative, but come on...

And also agree with Gay people?? God intended it to be girl boy not boy boy or girl girl...it dont fit that way...what the heck is "Obama" doing trying to take the right to have a gun away..psh i like to hunt and u know you have to use a gun sometimes to kill thangs. Im 14 yrs old and thangs that "Obama" does and wants to do tick me off...im the BIGGEST REPUBLICAN IN MY WHOLE SCHOOL!!! and guess what IM PROUD OF IT!!!!!

Joe in Cincinnati Ohio- I could not have said it better myself. I voted for McCain and Palin this morning, as I believe all true Americans should. I do not believe in socialism, I believe in social programs supported by people at will, not having money taken against their will from paychecks. Obama is full of lies, and has aligned himself with radicals. I have no idea why Americans are buying all of his BS leaves me speechless. Although, my sister is voting for Obama, and I am extremely disturbed by it, when I asked her why, she just "parrots back" what she heard in the mainstream media. Sad. So many have been brainwashed. We just have to pray, that people will do what is right, and go with their gut. God Bless America!

Posted by: Collette (New Jersey) on November 4, 2008 9:38AM
They all lie. It's ridiculous. I know who has my vote, and that's what matters. I don't care who you're voting for, as long as you VOTE.

Posted by: Joe (Cincinnati, Ohio) on November 4, 2008 1:34AM
john mccain and sarah palin,I do hope you are elected today.I believe the two of you will do great things for our country.John and sarah are true american.unlike the obama.he is all about lies.he should tell his story truthfully, but if he did he would not be elected.the people that are voting for obama please tell me why you are.I see no reason anyone would vote for him except people wanting to keep getting a check for siiting on there butts.lazy so called americans.my god bless us all!!!!!!!

If you research some history, we were a great nation because we had Industry here, and we had tariffs to protect american made products (and jobs). NAFTA,

Posted by: Anonymous on November 3, 2008 8:20PM
The best vote is for a third canidate and show how we want to bring America back to what it is suppose to be. neither party has helped solve any of our current problems. I still remember all of these same topics were on the table back in 1992! Only; we, the people can save America. I have read so many great bail out plans

Posted by: Anonymous on November 3, 2008 8:20PM
Why vote for either one. Mr. Obama,

Posted by: Me -again (Ohio) on November 3, 2008 8:18PM
The whole lot of you seem unable to reason with much credibility (let alone write coherently). None of the comments above can pass as having come from an informed electorate. Moreover the susceptibility to conspiracy theory is breathtaking. Turn off CNN and Fox and go to factcheck.org. You might learn something and actually have accurate information to draw upon. Neither candidate it a savior and neither is an antichrist. Both are capable of the job. The rest boils down to politics. Use your brain, rather than fear tactics.

Posted by: David (Four Corners) on November 3, 2008 8:14PM
Oh and Maggie from "Australia", thank god you can't vote in the U.S. America does not need additional stupidity. Thanks anyway for offering to add to our stupidity by voting for Obama. Why don't you make yourself useful, and start your very own ACORN in Australia. I am sure everyone would be so pleased.

Posted by: Collette (New Jersey) on November 3, 2008 6:09PM
I live in NJ. It is democratic hell. NJ is near bankrupt. Trust me, you do not want higher taxes. Also, there have been donations from Middle Eastern countries for Obama's campaign, if that isn't a red flag, I don't know what is! Dems talk of change, how is being on the far left change?? McCain is change, bi-partisan is CHANGE. I can't believe Americans are falling for Obama's "Hollywood like image", oh wait, yes I can, Americans are in fantasy land,
"Hollywood obsessed" Jerry Springer watching libtards. Lazy people just looking for handouts. The whole world is laughing at us, because we are so stupid. Other countries are leading us intellectually. It doesn't surprise me that Americans are voting for Obama. We are destroying our own country, Obama is the final nail in the coffin. Go ahead, betray America, Vote Obama. If you want to become the great country we once were, and you want REAL CHANGE, vote McCain!

Posted by: Collette (New Jersey) on November 3, 2008 6:04PM
It is beyond my understanding why this candidate and her running mate continue to to use scare tactics to persuade voters to support them. Should we all be afraid of terrorists, taxes, and the government (oh, EXCEPT the military, of course)? We are Americans, and the GOP lost sight of that. What their fear mongering has led me to is a belief that they think they can save me. Please! The GOP has lost sight of it's foundation. These scare tactics cause me, an independent, to vote for Obama.

i chose McCain becouse he has experance pls gave vote to McCain

Thanks

Posted by: Anonymous on November 3, 2008 11:30AM
People who resort to name calling come across as illiterate and ineffective fear mongers.

Anyone running for office is opportunistic.

Anyone born of an American parent is born an American citizen no matter where they are born.

You all have been listening to too much hate talk media. Supporting one candidate or the other does not make the voter a bad person. This country has lived on fear for too long. It is time to come together and solve our problems intelligently.

Both of the presidential candidates are intelligent thoughtful people. Thoughtful people can disagree on how to make the country better. Vote for the one whose policies most closely align with yours and leave your fears out of it.

u really think obama is that great ,.,.what is wrong with you ,. the world is great now ,.,.i hate 2 think whats going to happen if that dumb ass wins ,.,.chris in missouri VOTE McCain

Posted by: Anonymous on November 3, 2008 8:11AM
I know I don't have the right to vote in the American elections, but we are all affected by the policies that are made there. If only you lot could understand the mportance to the rest of the world that Obama win. It seems like you have an aversion to interlect. Kerry got voted out because he wore a French suit and he read books for heavens sake. And if Sarah Palin gets voted in for being stupid and narrow minded, I don't think there is much hope for the rest of the world. Please, please vote Obama and help make the world a better place.

Posted by: Maggie (Australia) on November 3, 2008 2:51AM
Donna,

It is the greatest nation in the world for the very reason that we have the power to change it, to affect it, to make it what we want it to be. THAT is the hope Obama has inspired in myself and so many. He has specified exactly what type of changes he will enact, from health care reform to education, from foreign policy improvement to economic and tax plans that will help to pull our nation out of this terrible crisis.

Posted by: Emma (Boston) on November 3, 2008 1:32AM
Like Obama tells the truth??? Was he even born in the United States? His records have been sealed and there is no record to show if he was born in Hawaii or not. If I were you, I'd be asking some serious questions about the man and his so called change. He has never specified what type of change at all. He just says"We live in the greatest nation in the world, join me and help me change it." What does he want to change?

Posted by: Donna (TN) on November 3, 2008 12:03AM
what is wrong with people who just want sooooo badly to believe the lie after lie told by this truly insincere opportunistic woman?
jeeeeze!
